Notes It is the other sermon book written by Yâkûb Afvî, apart from Hediyyetü'l-vu'âz and Tuhfetü'l-vu'âz. Apart from Şeyh Afvî Hüdâyî's assistant, he also served as sheikh of the pulpit in Üsküdar Yeni Valide and Şehzâde mosques. This work includes the sermons he gave in one of the mosques in question. The author's copy of the work written in Arabic could not be identified. The copy registered at number 160 in the Süleymaniye Library H. Nasuhi Dervish Lodge collection was copied from the author's copy by Sheikh Alaaddîn Efendi (d. 1165/1752), the son of Mehmed Nasûhî Efendi, the pîr of the Nasûhiyye sect. In the Ferağ record, Alâaddîn Efendi states that he completed the copy on 25 Muharrem 1150 / 25 May 1737. And he entrusted his work to the disposal of the Nasûhîzâdes, who would become sheikhs in the Nasûhî lodge, for their benefit. It can be said that this 194-leaf copy is a complete copy due to the explanations of the copyist. The copy of Kenzü'l-vâizîn in the Burdur Provincial Public Library collection of Konya Regional Manuscripts Library is from Mehmed b. It was copied by İsmail Ispartavi in 1155/1741 and consists of 136 leaves. The copy registered in the Antalya Elmalı District Public Library collection number 2788/11 (176b-196a) in the same library is missing. Another complete copy, registered at Balıkesir Provincial Public Library number 543, belongs to Hüseyin b. It was copied by Mustafa el-Fenâyî in 1223/1807. Kenzü'l-vâizîn was generally not mentioned in the studies on Yakûb Afvî. However, in the sources regarding the authors and works of the Ottoman period, Afvî's name is mentioned among his works. Although the topics in terms of content are parallel to those in Hediyyetü'l-vu'âz and Tuhfetü'l-vu'âz, the three sermon books are different from each other. As a matter of fact, the first verse of the Surah Isrâ is the subject of a council both in Kenz and Hediyyetü'l-vu'âz. However, the content is not the same. Again, the interpretation of the verse "O you who believe! Remember Allah much" (Ahzab 33:41) has different content in Kenz and Tuhfetü'l-vu'âz. In the work consisting of 58 assemblies, the topics are more concise compared to other sermon works. There is an index at the entrance that sheds light on the content. Afvî also frequently recorded his sources in Kenz. He benefited from the commentaries of Ömer Nesefî, Fahreddîn er-Râzî, Suyûtî and the works of Kevâşî. Apart from Sahîhayn, Hakîm Tirmidhi's Nevâdiru'l-usûl, İbn Hibbân's Sahîh, Hakim en-Nisâbûrî's Müstedrek, Taberânî's Mu'cem's, Begavî's Mesâbîhu's-sunne, Deylemî's Firdevsü'l-ahbâr is the main hadith source. İbnü'l-Cevzî's sermon books called Tebsıra and Abdülbârî es-Sinobi's Hayâtü'l-kulûb, İbn Arabî's Fütuhât, Şemseddin Şâmî's Sübülü'l-hudâ ve'r-reşâd fî sîreti ḫayri'l-ibâd and Ebû Abdullah Muhammed er-Rassâ's Tezkiretü'l-muhibbîn fî esmai Seyyidi'l-Mürselîn are the other source works mentioned in the work. The subject of the first assembly is the interpretation of Surah al-Fatiha. In the following two assemblies, he discussed the subject of dhikr based on the 41st verses of Ahzab Surah and the 19th verses of Muhammad Surah. Hz. The verse about the obligation of salutation to the Prophet and the virtue of salutation to the Prophet is the subject of the fourth and fifth assemblies. The work is Hz. It continues with assemblies that include interpretations of the verses that indicate the characteristics of the prophethood of the Prophet. The interpretation of the verses regarding the three months and the sanctity of these months, fasting, alms, and pilgrimage were discussed in the following assemblies. Subjects illustrating the life of Muslims, such as death and its states, life in the grave, signs of the apocalypse, moral issues such as patience, conditions for the acceptance of prayer, and supererogatory worship, were discussed in separate assemblies. A scientific style rather than a preaching style is dominant in Kenz. Address sentences are not included. In tafsir, first importance was given to the grammatical explanations of the words. What brings the work closer to the language of preaching is that it gives extensive space to the stories of the prophets, examples from the life of the companions, and the legends and sayings of the Sufis.
