Notes
A work of fiqh written on one of the most famous and respected texts of Hanafi fiqh. It is a single-volume Arabic work in fatwa magazine format, created by purifying ("tecrîd-i mesâ'il") of the issues in Burhâneddin el-Mergînânî's (d. 593/1197) work called el-Hidaye, compiling them and enriching them with additions from other sources. The topics covered in the source work are rearranged in the order that the author thinks they should be. fatwa transfers deemed appropriate by the author were placed at the end of the classified issues, and an order that made it easier for the readers was observed by indicating the places of the subjects in the main text so that they could be referred to when necessary. Fatwalar, which are mentioned between the lines or implicitly in other sources, are expressed more clearly and understandably in Udde, and due to such characteristics, it has gained the identity of a handbook for scholars and was taught in madrasahs (Taş 2020: 4). The sources of the Book of Udde are mostly Hidaye commentaries. In the development of the work, primarily from Fethu'l-kadîrveel-İnâye, sometimes it was transferred from commentary books such as Kifâye, and sometimes other sources of the Hanafi sect such as Câmi'u'l-fusûleynveel-Muhîtu'l-Burhânî were also used. Regarding the application of the sources used to the work, the author not only made choices such as introduction, postponement, addition, and exaggeration, but also added his will to the work with the explanations he made personally. This explanation and additions; giving information about proper names, correcting mistakes, explaining fateful words, indicating the authority of pronouns; gathering the sentence, summarizing the subject; interpreting reserved meanings, explaining ambiguous phrases, describing issues, restricting judgments, pointing out reservations, etc. (Taş 2020: 13). Udde has a simple and clear language in accordance with the scientific method because it deals with fiqh subjects; Due to the elegant and literary aspect of the author, especially in the introduction and epilogue sections, there are rhetorical arts such as metaphor, metaphor, rhyme and seci, especially puns and quotations, and the poetic aspect of the author is also revealed in the work. The eulogies written for Sultan Ahmed I (1603-1617), especially in the dîbâce section, demonstrate the author's skill in this regard (Taş 2020: 69-72). His full name is Mevlâna Kemâleddîn Muhammed b. Kemâleddin Mehmed Efendi, who is Ahmed el-Rûmî el-Hanefi and belongs to the Taşköprizâde family with a scientific tradition, also wrote his work; He dedicated it to Sultan Ahmed I, to whom he gave eulogies, read poems, and received encouragement from him (Taş 2020: 68). In addition to his poetic talent, his knowledge of language and poetry was also revealed in the work by Kemâleddîn Efendi. Although rare, Persian expressions were included in the book (Taş 2020: 75), and poems were quoted as evidence among the fatwas. (Taş 2020: 71) This book in the style of tecrîd-i mesâ'il, based on Hidaye, one of the masterpieces of our classical fiqh tradition, and described as "unprecedented" by Taş (2020: 16), is presented as a rare work in the sense that such studies are not often encountered (Taş 2020: 4). Many copies of the Fatwa book are in Istanbul libraries. (İpşirli 2011: 153), the investigative text, which was created using especially four of the eight copies that could be obtained, was published in a doctoral study (Taş 2020).
