Notes Sadreddin Konevi's (d. 673/1274) is the most voluminous work in which he deals with the basic issues of Sufi metaphysics within the framework of the interpretation of Surah Fatiha. In the work whose full name is İʿcâzü'l-beyân fî teʾvîli ümmi'l-Kurʾân, Konevi reveals all his major views in detail. The work consists of two main parts. In the first chapter titled “General Introduction”, which corresponds to approximately half of the book, Konevi first states the purpose of writing the work. In this regard, Konevi, who draws attention to the fact that Surah al-Fatiha is the summary of the Quran, aims to reveal the general characteristics of God's address to humans by discussing the layers of meaning of the Quran since it contains all the truths. In this regard, Konevi also touches upon the subjects and style of the work, and in this section, he mainly explains the issue of information method. In this context, according to Konevi, there are basically two methods to reach the truth: one is the path of proof, which expresses the effort to reach the truth based on theoretical evidence and comparisons, and the second is the path of observation, which is based on the principles of purifying the heart, strengthening the soul and following God. Konevi includes the criticism of philosophy found in his other works in more detail here, arguing that purely rational methods are insufficient to reach the truth and showing the reasons for this. In addition, as expressed in a hadith, each verse has four layers of meaning: zahir, batin, had and matla; Stating that each of these layers contains meanings related to the world of senses, examples, spirits and the level of a'yan-ı sâbite, Konevi also touches upon the meanings of the letters and the divine names in the Fatiha surah. The second part of the work includes the interpretation of Surah Fatiha. Explaining each verse under an independent section, Konevi points out that this surah is divided into three parts, the first of which belongs to God, the second to the servant, and the third to both God and the servant, as stated in a sacred hadith. Within the scope of the parts belonging to God, Hamd focuses on God's manifestation of existing things at various levels, starting from concepts and divine names such as Allah, Lord, Merciful, Merciful, property and responsibility. In the second part, which belongs to the servant, he explains the relationship between God and man within the framework of the relationship between deeds and worship. In the third part, he focuses on concepts such as prayer, happiness, rebelliousness and wrath within the framework of the servants' requests from God. Konevi extensively discussed the theory of divine names in this book, and made references to issues such as the signs of the apocalypse and the coming of the Mahdi on various occasions. The work was published as an investigation by Abdülkâdir Ahmed Ata (Cairo, 1970), and Ekrem Demirli translated it into Turkish under the name of Tafsir of Surah Fatiha (Istanbul, 2002).
