Kit? It is seen that the importance of Turkish increased during the Mamluk period, during the period of Turkish domination in Egypt and Syria, and this increased the studies on Turkish and the efforts to learn this language. During this period, the work was copied as an original language material in terms of dictionary and grammar in order to reveal the Turkish of its period and to teach this language to others. The language of the work, although it contains Turkmen (Oghuz) features, is the Mamluk-Kipchak Turkish spoken by the Kipchaks, who were the dominant element in the state administration. In his work, Ebū Hayyān tried to outline the features of General Turkish spoken in the Egypt-Syria area. However, he did not prefer the names such as "Turkmen", "Kipchak" or "Pure Kipchak" in the Turkish grammars and dictionaries written in the same period, and only mentioned "Turkmen" and "Kipchak" elements in the dictionary and grammar part of the work. He also touched upon the linguistic characteristics of other minority Turkish tribes settled in Egypt and Syria and the Turkish dialects spoken in different geographies (Turkestan language, Khwarezm language, Tatar, Bulgarian, Toksuba languages, etc.). Based on the dictionary and grammar parts of the study, it is seen that the author distinguishes the dialects in the Egypt-Syria area well and gives information about their different dialect features. The fact that the Turkish used in the work is close to the language of works such as Hüsrev ü Şirin and Gülistan Translation, written in Kipchak Turkish in the Golden Horde-Khorezm area, indicates that Kİ's language is predominantly Kipchak Turkish in terms of the vocabulary used as well as its phonetic and formal features. At the same time, while the Kipchak dialect predominates in the grammatical part of the work, the influence of the Turkmen vocabulary, apart from the Kipchak elements, is also significant in the dictionary part. Kİ has original material in terms of vocabulary. According to the author's statement, the work was not based on a book written before it, but was compiled from the words of people he personally respected. The lexical order of Kİ is different from other dictionaries written in the Mamluk-Kipchak field. In the work, all sounds in the roots of Turkish words are listed according to the Arabic alphabet. The words are arranged according to the method used in Arabic lexicography and called the "Modern Dictionary Arrangement" method. Accordingly, all letters in the word roots are listed alphabetically from beginning to end. Arabic elements are not included in the dictionary section of Kİ. It can be thought that the reason for this is that the work was written with the aim of teaching the Turkish language to Arabs and that the author tried to reveal the original Turkish language based on the standard Turkish spoken in Egypt. Although the original of the work has not survived to the present day, we have three copies. The first of these is the copy dated 1335, registered in the Veliyüddin Efendi section of the Istanbul Bayezid Public Library. The second copy is registered in the Arabic Manuscripts section of the Istanbul University Library and was written by Ahmed ibni Sāfi'i in Latakia in 1402. The third copy of the work is in the National Documents Library in Cairo. For the author's biography, see. “Ebû Hayyân, Muhammed b. Yûsuf b. Alî b. Yûsuf b.
