Notes Muslihuddîn Sürûrî's complete commentary in Persian on Sa'dî-i Şîrâzî's work titled Bostâna. Sürûrî describes Bostân in the introduction by Prince Mustafa b. He stated that he made Suleiman read while he was working as a teacher and that he annotated it in Persian as a result of his request that he compose works that would bring peace to the heart (Dihkân-Ferzî and Selâmî, 1392: 35). In the introduction, the author Sa'dî said that "buy roses from Gülistan and smell from Bostan", but Persian was not fully known. He stated that it was not appropriate to learn Persian through Turkish, and therefore he wrote his commentary in Persian and interpreted the commentary in a way that everyone could understand (Atila 2019: 85). Many Turkish words and phrases are included in this commentary, which contains many errors in terms of meaning, concept and grammar (Selâmî and Mehnefî 1394: 1093-94). The author explained all the couplets of the work word by word, touched upon the meanings of words and phrases, grammatical rules and rhetorical elements. The work consists of an introduction and ten chapters, just like Bostân. The chapters in the work are listed as justice, benevolence, love, humility, consent, contentment, discipline, gratitude, repentance, prayer and hatm-i kitab. All the couplets in Bostan were written in the work, and then they were annotated line by line. In the introduction of this work, which is the first Bostan commentary written outside Iran, the author commemorated Sa'di and expressed his respect and love for him. In the work, he sometimes included the Turkish versions of the words, couplets and verses to make them easier to understand. It is seen that the author, who is a scholar, includes concepts related to Sufism, verses, hadiths and religious stories, sometimes directly and sometimes by allusion, in his work. The work contains new meanings, original dreams and new themes, albeit few. The literary arts that Sa'di benefited from in Bostan are sometimes mentioned. A structured and heavy language was adopted in the prose parts of the work, while a simpler and more fluent style was preferred in the verses. The author sometimes quoted poems from other poets and sometimes included his own poems. Some scholars stated that Surûrî made many mistakes in this commentary because he did not know the symbols and subtle matters of Persian (Müderris-i Tebrîzî, 1369: 20). At the end of the work, Sürûrî wrote ten couplets and stated that Sa'dî's name, like himself, was Mustafa. The work can be found in Beyazıt State Library, no. 005466/ 005775/ 005776; Beyazıt State Library, Veliyüddin Efendi, no. 002680; Bursa Region, Orhan, nr. 001182; Istanbul Nation Library, Feyzullah Efendi Collection, no. 34 Fe 1638/ 001638; Istanbul, Hüseyin Kocabaş Library Turkish Manuscripts, no. 459; Manisa Provincial Public Library, nr. 45 Hk 2628; Manisa Provincial Public Library, nr. 45 Hk 5141; Mevlana Museum-Konya, no. 2528/ 2529/ 2530/4/ 002528; Suleymaniye, Serez, nr. 002568/ Writing Donations, no. 004228/ Zeytinoğlu, no.
