Notes
Commentary of some ruba'is and couplets belonging to Ebû Saîd Ebu'l-Hayr (d. 440–1048). The work was given this name because it begins with "Havra", the first word of Ebû Saîd Ebu'l-Hayr's rubâî. Çerhî's words: "The treatise on Cemâliyye is over." Due to its expression, it is also called Cemâliyye. Hur, hûri, heavenly girl, black-eyed woman, gazelle-eyed girl mentioned in the text is an Arabic word and is also used in Persian. "Ahver", which means "with blue eyes", and its müenne are the plural of "havrâ" and mean "those with blue eyes". In Rubâî, the longing of a faithful dervish for the beauty and magnificence of Allah is expressed. The symbol of "black-eyed houri" was also used by Kashānī and it refers to the manifestation of divine attributes. The likening of the beloved to the houri is a phenomenon also valid for our divan poetry. Some quatrains decorated with literary arts belong to the commentator. Çerhî, stating that the rubaî in the introduction points to Surah Fatiha, includes couplets and commentaries from Hakîm-i Senâî, Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî and Secavendî, as well as the commentary of this sura. He also mentions the verses and hadiths they refer to from time to time. This work of Çerhî was published in Daniş magazine together with Ranchâ's work titled "Dû Eser-i Gayr-i Çâpi-i Mevlânâ Ya'kûb-ı Çerhî" and Çerhî's work titled Şerh-i Esmâi'l-Hüsnâ. Ranchâ states that he benefited from the copy of the work in Kitabhâne-i Cenab Nezr-i Sabirî. For the biography of the poet, see. “Yakub Çerhî”.Turkish Literature Names Dictionary.
