Notes
Persian work of Bahâeddîn Muhammed Veled, nicknamed Veled, commonly known as Sultân Veled. There is no record in either the preface or the text of the work that its name is "Intihâ-nâme". Sultan Veled did not give any name to this work, and was content to call it "Mesnevi". The name "İtihâ-nâme" was given because it is his third and last masnavi (Yazıcı 1997). Because Sultan Veled wrote two more masnavis called İbtidâ-nâme and Rebâb-nâme before İntihâ-nâme, and did not give any name to the last one, this work was later named "Intihâ-nâme", considering that it was the first masnavi of İbtidâ-nâme. Considering that the work, whose copyright date is unknown, was written after the first two masnavis, it was concluded that it was copyrighted between the years 700-712/1300-1312. Based on the couplets at the end of a copy found in Konya, it is understood that the text was completed in Zilkâde 708/April-May 1309. A copy of the work is located in Istanbul University Rare Works Library, Persian Manuscripts, number 1009. The work is sung in the aruz "fâ'ilâtün fâ'ilâtün fâ'ilün" meter, like Mevlana's Mesnevi, and includes 120 titles, apart from the introduction, and totals 8313 couplets. The text is mixed in verse and prose. The prose sections have been arranged in a summary manner in order to prepare the reader for the topics covered in the verse sections. It is clear that this method of arrangement is a teaching method in Sultan Veled. Because the author applied the same method in İbtidâ-nâme and Rebâb-nâme. The difference of İbtidâ-nâme from Sultan Veled's other masnavis is that it does not include Turkish, Arabic and Greek couplets as in them, but is written entirely in Persian. In the preface of İntihâ-nâme, Sultan Veled writes about the Qur'an. He draws attention to the fact that the advice and advice in the Holy Quran are explained over and over again with various phrases and various examples. He sees the wisdom of repeating the advice in the Holy Quran in this way, in the fact that people fall into heedlessness and forgetfulness and are deceived by the soul and the devil. According to Sultan Veled, the soul and the devil use magic to make this world, which is actually hell, look as beautiful as heaven. On the other hand, from His grace and generosity, God wants people not to be deceived by their own souls and to save themselves from this land, which is the prison of believers, by following the path shown (Küçük 2012). Sultan Veled also states in his own work that he arranged his own advice and advice according to the method of repetition, based on the method in these divine commands. Describing the things to be explained through advice in the work as the secret of God, Sultan Veled says that the common people, who constitute the majority of the social segment, cannot understand this secret. Stating that these secrets will be understood by the saints, who are the opposite of the common people, the poet uses the concept of the common people as a description specific to all people who lack knowledge. Secondly, in the work, Sultan Veled emphasizes that he brought together and annotated the situations of his father Mevlana and his distinguished friends, who were his secret and conversation companions, and thus expressed the conditions of the sect. The work was published in Iran by Muhammed Alî-i Hızânedarlu under the title İntihâ-nâme-i Sultân Veled (1374). It was translated into Turkish by Niğdeli İbrahim Hakkı Eroğlu in 1946, and this translation was published by Hülya Küçük (2010, 2012). For the poet's biography, see.
