Notes
The second love masnavi written by Gelibolulu Mustafa Âli in Konya and presented to Prince Selim. Vasfi Mahir Kocatürk informs that a missing copy of Mihr ü Vefâ is in his private library. After Kocatürk's death, the missing copy of Mihr ü Vefa was donated to Ankara National Library (Yz A 5966). The missing copy of Mihr ü Vefâ that we have belongs to a section of the Introduction, and in this section the following is explained: mirac, praise for çehar-yâr, münacat, praise for Prince Selim, the beginnings of the reason. The missing copy we have of the masnavi, which Âlî reported as 7000 couplets, has 298 couplets. According to the couplets at hand, Mihr ü Vefâ was written in the aruz meter “mefâ'îlün mefâ'îlün fa'ûlün” (Aksoyak: 2016). Extraordinaries and fairy tale motifs are also found in this masnavi, which tells about the love adventure between Vefâ, the son of the Greek sultan, and Mihr, the queen of Oman. (For a summary of the subject, see Ümmî İsâ's Mihr ü Vefâmesnevisi). In the sources, it has been claimed that Mustafa Çelebi also has a masnavi called Mihr ü Vefâ and that this masnavi is similar to the work of Mustafa Âlî from Gallipoli. Mustafa Çelebi's work was found in recent years and it was determined that the work was not Mihr ü Vefâd but Varka and Gülşâh mesnevi (Yıldız 2009: 5-7). Âlî tried to attract the attention of prince Selim by writing his Mihr ü Vefâ mesnevi in 969-970 / 1562-1563. Mihr ü Vefâson Until then, it was considered lost. The missing copy of the masnavi in question was published in one copy (Aksoyak 2003: 45-71). For the biography of the poet, see. "Âlî/Çeşmî, Gelibolulu Mustafa".
