Notes
The work of Sheikh Abdurrahman Hâlis Talebânî, who founded the Hâlisiyye branch of the Qâdirî sect, named after him, in which he paraphrases the first eighteen couplets of Mevlana's Mesnevi in Persian. The verse commentary was written upon the encouragement and desire of his dervishes. The work consists of 65 pages, 2-25. There is a verse commentary of the masnavi among its pages. The commentary begins with a prose preface. In this section, the author talks about his own situation after saying the basmala, hamdala and salwa. The preface is followed by a verse introduction. In the introduction, which is a kind of introduction to the commentary; Subjects such as creation, manifestation and love are interpreted with a Sufi approach. Starting from the tenth page, there is a Persian commentary of eighteen couplets of Mesnevi. In the commentary, each couplet in Mesnevi is discussed two by two, the elements symbolized by the words are explained based on Sufi symbols, and the deep meanings of the couplets are interpreted in verse in the same harmony and depth (Çakır 2016: 1349). Hâlis Talebânî first gave the superficial meanings of the couplets in Mesnevi and then commented on them in detail. In the epilogue at the end of the commentary, he praised Mevlana and ended his work with a supplication. In the preface of the work, Hâlis Talebânî describes Mesnevî as the Quran written in Persian language. The author, who wants his words not to be misunderstood, says that Mevlana is not a prophet, but he is the owner of a book (1284: 4), which reminds us of Abdurrahman Câmî's poem that is famous in the Islamic world. He repeats similar thoughts in some of the couplets he annotated. The work is remarkable as it is a verse commentary on Mesnevî. It was published as a lithograph in the Istanbul Rıza Efendi Basmahane in 1284/1867, together with its Divan, which also contains Persian and Turkish poems. This edition, written by calligrapher Ali Hacı Sâdık, was printed with the help of Rüştü Bey, the son of Baghdad Governor Gözlüklü Reşid Pasha. The second edition of the work was made in 1367/1948 at the Âfitâb Printing House in Tehran under the name Cezbe-i Aşka.
