Notes
The sheikh who adopted a moderate understanding of Sufism in line with the Ahl as-Sunnah, who first brought the Mujaddidi branch of the Naqshbandi sect to Anatolia, who did not defend extremism in his Sufi views, who argued that the essential thing in faith is faith in the heart, but that the confession made with the tongue is also recommended, and who tried to combine the apparent and the internal, that is, the Sharia and the truth. His work includes the sequence of ijazah of the Naqshbandi sect, to which Muhammad Murad-i Bukhari is a member, and the manners and rituals of the sect. In the introduction of the work, Murad-i Bukhari records the sequence of ijazah from the Mujaddidiyya. Then, it covers topics including the principles of Mujaddidiyya, its views on letâif-i hamse, dhikr and inculcation, muraqabe, tawajjuh and rabita (Şimşek 2006: 125). This treatise, written in Arabic by Murad-ı Bukhari, explains the manners, procedures and descendants of the Naqshbandiyya sect. In the work where he also records his own spiritual lineage, he emphasizes the reason for the creation of the universe, that he acts in accordance with the sunnah and greatness, that he strictly avoids bid'ahs and does not act with licenses, and that he does not deviate from the sharia (Yıldız 2017: 34). In addition, it is stated that the eternal salvation, the only true path and the correct belief is the belief of the Ahl al-Sunnah wa'l-Jamā'āt, which is the belief of the Companions (Ünal and Yılmaz 2014: 1543), and that the Naqshbandi sect is the sect, that is, the path, of the Ashāb-i Kiram, and that it is guided by a perfect and perfect guide. It provides enrichment and fruitfulness to faithful disciples, the necessity of affiliation, that there is no difference between the perfect and perfect guide who is alive and the perfect and perfect guide who is not alive in the worldly life, that the highest positions and degrees to be achieved at the end of the path of sainthood are achieved in the beginning of the path, in the Naqshbandi sect, which is the path of Prophethood, Naqshbandi, the path of Prophethood. The two most important and essential principles of the sect are the need to be in the Ahl al-Sunnah creed, not to deviate even a hair's breadth from the Shari'ah, that is, to be a complete follower of our Prophet, and to stay away from those who deviate from it, etc. talks about topics. In addition, he also talks about the levels of seyr u suluk (Unal 2013: 32). The work has various translations and commentaries. The work was annotated in Turkish by La'li-zâde Abdulbaki under the name Terceme-i Risâle-i Şeyh Muhammed Murâd-ı Buhârî en-Nakşbendî, and in Arabic by Ahmed-i Trabzonî under the title Tuhfetü'l-Ahbâb Li's-Sülûki İlâ Tarîkı'l-Ashâbad. Additionally, Mehmed Rüstem Raşid Efendi's Dürrü'l-Müntehab Min Bahri'l-Edeb Fî Tercemeti Silsileti'z-Zeheb Li'ş-Şeyh Muhammed Murâdi'l-Buhârî Kuddise Sirruhû Me'a Zeyla was translated into Turkish. Notes were made by the translator about the issues that needed to be explained in the margins of this translation and an addendum was added at the end (Ünal 2013: 32-33).
