Notes
A small Arabic treatise consisting of three or four pages in which Hüdâyî explains man and his creation, focusing on the verse stating that God Almighty created man in the most beautiful form (at-Tîn, 95/4). The work contains information about Sufi thought rather than practical Sufism. After mentioning the relevant verse, the author focuses on the spiritual side of man, which is far from matter, and the mental side that governs matter. Pointing out that man is like a mosque to which the trust is presented, he says, "The earth and the sky could not surround me. Only the heart of my faithful servant did." (See Ihyâu ulûmi'd-dîn, 3. p.14) It points to the greatness of the believer's heart with the narration conveyed as a sacred hadith. He mentions that the heart of the sage is the landing place and manifestation of divine lights. Based on the views and thoughts of important Sufis such as Sheikh-i Ekber Ibn Arabi, he explains that the perfect human being is a copy of the universe. Mekarim-i morality; He describes it as relative behavior and state, and mentions that there are two types of morality: the morality of free people and the morality of slaves. He also divides morality into two: mahmûde and mezmûme. The moral values of the beloved are the moral values; He states that there are types such as forgiveness, generosity, cooperation based on goodness and piety, and gratitude for blessings. The author also mentions emotional death here and states that this means the separation of the soul from the body. He says that spiritual death means the elimination of the self by making the self a witness to God's own existence during the oath taken from the servant in the bezm of elest. The copies of this treatise, the copies of which are rare, that we have been able to identify are as follows: H. Selimağa – Hüdâyî 278 (Copied by İsmâil Efendi, one of the Hüdâyî caliphs. (1046), Süleymaniye – İbrâhim Ef. (877/6), Süleymaniye – Şehîd Ali Pasha (1451/2). For the biography of the author, see “Hüdâyî, Aziz Mahmûd”.Turkish Literature Names Dictionary.
