Notes	It is the commentary in Arabic by Tokatlı İshak Efendi of the Arabic treatise Cilâ'u'l-Kulûbadlı, written in the field of ethics and Sufism by Birgivî Mehmed Efendi (d. 981/1573), who is famous for his works in various sciences. This commentary, which İshak Efendi named Ziyâ'u'l-Kulûbo, consists of a short praise and salve. Then it continues with the reason for copyright section. In this section, the commentator, who praises and introduces the source text, states that he had his students read this work for a part of his life, and that he wanted to write a commentary on this work upon the request of some of his students, especially his son Fazlullah. The commentator, who explains the reason for the copyright of his work in this way, wrote a commentary in which he rather explains and expands the source text in terms of meaning, and in this respect, philological explanations are more limited. According to the enigmatic date information given at the end of the work, the work was painted on 19 Rabi' al-Awwal 1099/23 January 1688. There are minhuvat notes in the margin of the work. Cilâ'u'l-Kulûb, which is the subject of the commentary, consists of seven chapters. In the first part, the things that people want to escape from the afterlife and seek in this world, in the second part, the importance of repenting before death accompanied by verses and hadiths, in the third part, advice to the sultans, and in the fourth part, the narrations of scholars about death are mentioned. In the fifth chapter, some advice that should be known before death is given, in the sixth chapter, the sunnahs and recommended things to be done on the deathbed and after death, and in the seventh chapter, issues that are beneficial to the dead and visiting graves in the light of verses and hadiths are mentioned (Onaibekov 2019: 9-10; March 2008: 22).
