Notes	17th century Mevlevi Sheikh İsmâîl Rüsûhî Efendi's Arabic work on the concept of sema' in Mevlevi order. The period in which Rüsûhî Efendi lived was a time period that witnessed heated debates on some issues related to fiqh and daily life between the two groups that were widespread in the Ottoman Empire: Kadızâdeliler and Sivasîler. Since he was a Mevlevi sheikh, İsmâîl Rüsûhî Efendi also took part in these hot discussions and wrote many works against the ideas of the Kadızâde people. Risâle fî Hakkı's-Semâ' is one of them. According to the information given by Kâtip Çelebi, this work was written as a response to the work written by Muhammed Efendi, one of the muftis of the period, regarding the prohibition of sema and devrâ. Rüsûhî Efendi argues that sema and devrâ are not haram. Risâle fî Hakkı's-Semâ' was first written in Arabic and later expanded and translated under the name Huccetü's-Semâ'. Semih Ceyhan states that the only known copy of the treatise is in the Vatican (Biblioteca Vaticana (Vat Turco) 137/7, vr. 347-362) (2005: 207). The Arabic text of Risâle fî Hakkı's-Semâ has not become widespread, it was translated into Turkish by the same author under the name Huccetü's-Semâ'. The treatise became famous.
