Notes
Uzun Firdevsî's Persian work consisting of a prose introduction and the translation of forty hadiths with two couplets each. Firdevsi, like many scholars, upon the request of a disciple, received blessings and went to Hz. He compiled this work and translated it in verse in order to gain the intercession of the Prophet. In the prose introduction, Firdevsi praised Allah and the Prophet, then wrote a rubai, asking Allah to forgive his sins and put him in paradise, and then narrated the hadith that inspired the activity of compiling forty hadiths. Later, he stated that he created his work in 957/1551 after a disciple asked him to compile forty hadiths in Persian so that the hadiths could be easily memorized by everyone and to be remembered with blessings. In the work, which includes forty hadiths and eighty couplets that are the translations of these hadiths, Firdevsi; It includes hadiths and their translations that include topics such as generosity, stinginess, prayer, torment in the grave, ignorance, cleanliness, prayer, knowledge, repentance, faith, knowledge, dhikr, good morals, obeying the sunnah, cooperation, the afterlife, charity, patience, trust, knowledge, friendship, halal earnings, talking and eating less, truthfulness, arrogance, bad morals, and lying. Firdevsî first wrote the hadiths in Arabic, and then translated the hadiths into Persian with two couplets. Like most of the poets who wrote forty hadiths in Persian, Firdevsî created his work by being influenced by the forty hadiths of Molla Câmî. Firdevsî, who wrote his work in stanza verse and the meter "fe'ilâtün mefâ'ilün fe'ilün", used a plain, simple and fluent language in the work and did not include heavy, long and intricate sentences. Most of the hadiths chosen by Firdevsî are not found in Câmî's work. Firdevsî differs from Câmî in this aspect. Firdevsî, who chose short and concise hadiths that were easy to understand and memorize, was successful in translating hadith texts into the language of poetry. The author, who does not need explanations in his work and does not include various hadiths, verses and wise events, does not have a hatime section in his work. The work is published in Millet Manuscript Library, Ali Emiri, Nu. 000006 and Süleymaniye Library, Atıf Efendi, Nu. There are two copies, registered in 2846/9.
