Notes
The work was written by the author in 437. As stated at the end of the work, it was written in 438. The end of the copy is missing. A few leaves are missing between 237a and the last leaf. There are correction records and copy differences on the page margins. According to the record in 237b, the copy was recited and sung with a chain attributed to the author. The copy consists of 24 pentameters. The work is in motion. There are traces of worms and moisture in the copy. Especially in the pages Ia-b, most of which are narrated. A number of comments have been recorded. In 1a, there is an index of the work. In 237b, there is a Turkish quatrain in the margin. The work, which is one of the classical sources of Sufism, aims to show that Sufism does not contradict the Sunni creed.

(1b-3a) In the name of God... I seek help from God alone. The professor said... Abu Al-Qasim Abdul Karim bin Hawazin Al-Qushayri... Praise be to God, who is unique in the majesty of His kingdom, united by the beauty of His power, and strengthened by the height of His oneness... This is a letter written to God by the poor man, Abdul Karim bin Hawazin Al-Qushayri, to the Sufi group in the countries of Islam in the year four hundred and thirty-seven. However, after, may God be pleased with you, God has made this group the elite of His saints and favored them over all of them. His servants after His messengers and prophets... Then know, may God have mercy on you, that most of the investigators from this sect have become extinct, and nothing remains of this sect in our time except their traces... So I commented this letter to you, may God honor you, and I mentioned in it some of the progress of this path... A chapter in explaining the belief of this sect in matters of fundamentals. Know, may God have mercy on you, that the sheikhs of this sect built the foundations of their affairs on sound principles [of monotheism] and preserved their beliefs from heresies. (237a-b) Chapter: And if a disciple is afflicted with prestige, or known, or the company of a young man, or inclination toward a woman, or reliance on a known person, and there is no sheikh to guide him to a trick to get rid of that, then it is permissible for him to travel and turn away from that place in order to confuse himself with that condition. It is a calamity for us, and we have been granted the opportunity to dictate this letter at the beginning of the year four hundred and thirty-eight. We ask God, the Generous, not to make it an excuse and a calamity for us. Indeed, grace from him is common, and it is described as pardon.
