Notes Fol. 1 has undergone attempted restoration by a former owner of the volume, in the form of narrow strips of paper attached to the edges. The manuscript was brought for restoration to the National Library in July 1992. Rubrications. Marginal notes, by the copyist or by a reader, Ilyās al-Kurdī, in black ink. A note in the same hand on the margin of fol. 226v states that the manuscript was read and corrected according to the reading of al-Shaykh Abū al-Ḥasan al-Sindī al-Madanī, al-Muḥaddith. The note is dated 1st Dhū al-Qa'dah 1186/24th January 1773. The name of Ilyās al-Kurdī appears also on fol. Ir (above the text) : Min minan al-karīm... Ilyās b. 'Uthmān al-Kurdī thumma al-Madanī, and on fol. lr: Fī nawbat al-faqīr... Ilyās b. 'Uthmān al-Kurdī thumma al-Madanī. There are brief notes in Arabic and in Ottoman Turkish concerning the peculiarities of the Maghribī script, in the same hand, on fols. Iv and Ilr (below the text). Three signs of “hearing” (samā’), giving the names of those present, written by ‘Alī b. Ibrāhīm b. Dā’ūd b. al-‘Aṭṭār al-Shāfī'ī in black ink; Naskhī script, with elements of Ta’līq (fols. 227r-v). The first reading and hearing of the copy were completed on 25th Ramaḍān 594/31st July 1198; the third reading and hearing took place in 668/1269-70 at the citadel of Damascus (bi-qal'at Dimashq al-mabrūsah). According to another note, the text was heard by Muḥammad b. Bal... (?), by ikhwān ‘Abd al-Wahhāb, and by ‘Alī al-Ḥāfiẓ b. Nāṣir al-Dīn (fol. 1r). Marginalia on fol. lr, some of which are not clear enough to be deciphered, written at different dates and relating to the history of the copy.
