Notes
- In the title of the manuscript: “And what he destroyed,” which is an error. - This is how his title was mentioned in the Paris manuscript. It came in another form: “The book of the news of time, and those who were destroyed by the two events from the past nations, the past generations, and the revolving kingdoms”: in the beginning of the introduction to “Meadows of Gold.” In this “Introduction”, Al-Masoudi exaggeratedly criticized his book “Akhbar Al-Zaman” and praised it, saying that it was the most comprehensive and comprehensive book in history. It was said that it was in about thirty volumes, of which the first part remained. It was said that Al-Masoudi summarized “Akhbar al-Zaman” and the summary emptied this part. It was said that some of them shortened it. It was said otherwise. Printed, reviewed and corrected by: - Abdullah Al-Sawy. He published an introduction in which he discussed at length the doubts and rumors surrounding him. Come back. - The author is from the descendants of Abdullah bin Masoud, the great companion: historian, scholar, and traveler. From the people of Baghdad. He resided in Egypt and died there. He wrote a huge number of books, some of which he printed. - In some sources, his death was in the year: 345 AH = 956 AD. - The first is a continuation of the words mentioned at the end (the first section) - The two sections: the first and the previous and this second (152 BC, 19 S) are illustrated with fragments from a handwritten copy in the National Library in Paris (numbered 1471 Arabic). Among them is a photocopy in the Egyptian House of Books (No. 179 date), 292 pages, 21 s. See: (“Index of Arabic books in the house until the end of December 1928, date” 5: 13-14). Among them is an illustrated copy at the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts in Cairo (No. F184). A written copy of it is in: The Timurid Treasury in Cairo (No. 614 dated). There were many omissions, truncations, and errors. The first sheet of it was lost, so one of the scribes completed it, Dar al-Kutub al-Misriyah (No. 7054H), in the usual naskh script. Written by Hassan Rashid, in the year 1356 AH = 1937 AD, copied from the Paris manuscript. See (“Index of Manuscripts” 1: 25). Comment line. It is read with difficulty, and the reader follows various schools of thought due to the similarity of its letters. - The name of the “Egyptian” copyist mentioned in the conclusion was mentioned in the publication: Al-Basri, which is an illusion.
