As for what follows, know, O you who are keen to acquire knowledge, who demonstrates sincerity in your desire and excessive thirst for it, that if by seeking knowledge you intend to compete, show off, get ahead of your peers, win people’s faces towards you, and collect the debris of the world, then you are seeking to destroy your religion and destroy yourself.
