At the beginning of each volume, Ahmet Rasim says, "Literary Life is a ten or twelve-year-old memory. The whole beautiful life will lie in confusion in this detailed description." Ahmet Rasim, who has earned his living throughout his life, especially through journalism, with his love of learning, strong memory and observation ability; He writes his works keeping the tastes of the middle class in mind. In the preface of the first volume of Ömr-i Edebî, the author said that he "pityed not the past life, but the memories that are about to be destroyed". In his work, he wrote about his experiences about every class, group and environment in the Istanbul of his period, which he looked at with journalistic attention. In his four-volume work, Ahmet Rasim adopts the romantic elements specific to poetry rather than his own realist, investigative and humorous style. However, his language and style vary depending on the literary genres he uses. While an artistic language and style generally prevails in the writings he wrote for literary purposes, the language in his stories and memories is simple; His language is heavy in translation and prose poems. Ahmet Rasim has many stories and novels. There are many short stories in Ömr-i Edebi. The only story in the first two volumes that can be considered a long story is in the second volume. After being published as a stand-alone book, the author's long stories were included in the last two volumes of Ömr-i Edebi. The main theme of Ahmet Rasim's stories is love. Even if he writes stories with different themes, the theme of love is indispensable for the author. "Betrayal, suffering and bitter end" are the key words of Ahmet Rasim's love stories. While Ahmet Rasim writes his stories using prose poetry elements, he uses the same technique in his prose poems by using story-specific elements. The author conveys his feelings within the framework of small events. In short, there is an interconnectedness between Ahmet Rasim's stories and prose poems. In his memoirs, Ahmet Rasim covers the panorama of the period with a wide framework. It is possible to see people, Ottoman society, places, customs and lifestyles in his memories. In his writings where he describes his childhood memories, feelings of "fear and sadness" dominate. He shapes his thoughts on "past time" and "change" around the center of "I". The time that brings people to death and what time brings increases the author's longing for the past. The two situations constantly grow in opposite poles. It is possible to classify the review articles as literary, historical and current topics. He examined Fuzuli and İbrahim Hakkı Bey in his literary writings. In his literary criticisms, he responds to Süleyman Nesib's article "Two More Words" published in Servet-i Fünunder magazine. This article contains Ahmet Rasim's literary views rather than being an answer. He does not mention a specific historical subject in his historical writings. He has discussed the topic of clothing many times in his current writings. It is possible to classify Ahmet Rasim's translations as anecdotes, stories and reviews. The common feature of the jokes is that they talk about small sensitivities and are written in an artistic style. The reviews are literary criticisms translated by Ahmet Rasim. In his stories, he translated works dealing with subjects such as love and nature. Ömr-i Edebî, consisting of 4 volumes in total, was published in the "Information Library / Tahir Bey Printing House" between 1315-1318, that is, 1897-1901.
