Translation-i state/biography dated 1311/1894, written by Avanzâde Mehmed Süleyman, who wanted women of the period like Ahmet Mithat Efendi to modernize without breaking away from tradition, in order to introduce famous women who were successful in various fields and professions in Europe and to guide Ottoman Turkish women in this context. The author states that he originally thought of the name Famous Women for this work, but for some reasons he published it under the name Writer Women. The work begins with the 'Expression' section bearing the name of the author and the date 6 May 1310. In this preface, the author gives information that the activity and importance of women have increased in European civilized societies in recent years. Women are responsible for a few limited tasks such as housework and child care; He says that while some jobs were thought to be reserved for men and women were deprived of them, now women engineers, physicians and lawyers have emerged as they gained proficiency in science and science, and moreover, they have proven themselves by showing their talents. She conveys the expanding position of women in social life and points out that there is almost no field in Europe where women do not have a presence, except for one or two professions. Nowadays, women also work in daily newspapers and their writings can be so effective that they can anger a diplomat. In this section, the author also explains his purpose in writing the work. She states that she wants to introduce to Ottoman readers scholarly women who achieved success and fame not only in writing but also in various professions such as medicine, actresses, sailors, and lawyers. In this preface, information is also given about the order of the work, its composition and the criteria on which the names chosen are based. In the "Malumat-ı Tarihiye - Science, Literature and Nisvan" section, the author says that we can draw useful lessons from the discussions on women working in the fields of science and literature at a conference held in France in 1894 and shares his ideas. At the conference, it was criticized that reading novels and stories was approached solely for entertainment and pastime, and it was emphasized that there was no harm in women engaging in science. Avanzâde Mehmet Süleyman explains women's interest in science and their engagement in this field by giving examples from ancient times, going back to the story of Hypatia. Then, he turns to Ottoman women and says that there are several works written on this subject, and that he postponed the discussion of Ottoman writers to another volume, taking into account the difficulties he would face. "Women Writers" constitute the main part of the work, and in this section, the biographies of 21 famous women are included. These; Carmen Sylva (Karmen Silva)- writer, Wilhelm Hamburg (Vilhelmin Heimburg)- writer, Henry Gravil (Henry Grevil)- storyteller, Marian de Bove- writer, Madam Rişar- theater artist, musician; Madame Severin (Madame Severin)- writer, poet, philosopher; Augusta Holmes (Agusto Holmes)- poet, musician; Louise Abbema (Luviz Abeme)- painter, Countess de Martel de Janville (Countess dö Martel dö Janvil)- writer, Madam Madeleine Brès (Madame Madelin Bres)- doctor, Adelina Patti- opera singer, Madam Mörösenti (Madam Morosniti)- theater actress, Madam Bertafon Zivetner- writer, Madam de Routh (Madam dö Rot) - writer, Amelie Polone - writer, La Baron Estaf (La Baronne Estaf) - literary, Rose Delaunay (Roz Dolunay) - opera singer, Susan Reisenberg (Suzan Reyşanberg) - musician, theater actress; Juliet Konto-musicinas, Madam Sarah Bernhardt (Madame Sara Bernar)- actress, Marya Esterozi-actress. The life of each name was created as a separate section and a picture was placed at the beginning. Introduced names; Their families, marriages, interests, the country's literature they belong to, the genre of works they produce, their professions and other prominent features are discussed. The work is enriched with various articles after introducing the famous women of Europe. The first of these articles is 'Malumat-ı Tarihiye'. Under this title, the author presents examples of women's inventions, accompanied by information from the work of New Yorker Monsieur Leon Mead, titled "Amazing Women". He says that although almost all of the tools, equipment, industry and new discoveries are attributed to men and women are thought to be incapable of inventing anything, these assumptions have now changed. After giving examples of many things that women produce and invent, she emphasizes that their hard work should be appreciated. The second article is called 'A Statistics on Women Writers'. In this title, the author mentions that some statistics were made and published in European newspapers regarding women and their developments. It shares different statistics about women in editorial positions published in a French newspaper. In the third article, titled 'Şüûnât-ı Müteferrika', a medical journal whose editor-in-chief and editorial staff are female doctors is mentioned. In an article published here and received with interest; It is stated that a school will be opened to train female doctors, hospitals will be built to benefit women in need with women's donations, and the majority of doctors in these hospitals will be women.
