Notes A mixed-language translation of the Quran. There is only one copy of this manuscript, which is unknown when, where and by whom it was written, since its beginning and end are missing (Suleymaniye Library. Manuscript Donations Section. 3966). The first leaf of the manuscript, which has a total of 222 leaves, starts with the 49th sura (Sûretü'l-Hucurât) and the last leaf ends with the 111th sura (Sûretü Ebî Laheb). The manuscript is missing quite a bit from the beginning, although only 3-4 leaves are missing from the end. The existing leaves contain only 1/6 (one sixth) of the Quran. This strengthens the possibility that the original work is in three or four volumes. The page size of the work is approximately 17.5x26 cm. The number of lines on the pages varies between six and sixteen. The Arabic text is written in bold and capital letters. Turkish translations are written between the lines of the Arabic text in a smaller script, slanting from top to bottom. Although the translation is done word by word, it is sometimes seen that Arabic words are met with a voluminous explanation. It has also happened that the meanings of Arabic words are written under the words before or after them. In addition to translations, the work also includes hadiths, stories and commentaries regarding the translated verses. There are summary notes written with a different pen in the margins of some pages of the work. There are also notes in Persian on some pages, although very few. The work was first introduced to the scientific world by Prof. Dr. Introduced by Nuri Yüce (Eine neu endeckte Handschrift des Mitteltürkischen – Sprach – und Kulturkontakte der Türkischen Völker, (Materialien der zweiten Deutschen-Tukologen Koferenz Rauischholzzhausen, 13-16 Juli 1990, hrsg v.J.P. Laut und K. Röhrborn. Harrassowitz Verlag, Wiesbaden 1993. Veröffentlichhungen der Societas Uralo-Altaica 37, 221-227). The term "mixed language" reveals, on the one hand, the works produced with the new literary language developed under the influence of Eastern Turkish in Anatolia, and, on the other hand, the mixing of tribes and languages caused by the Mongol invasion, especially in the Eastern Turkish written language represented by Khwarezmian Turkish in the 13th century. It is a term used for the language of the works in which the Kipchak and Oghuz language features have increased. The mixed-language text in this manuscript, which reflects the characteristics of Khwarezm, Kipchak and Oghuz dialects, is extremely valuable for the Turkish language. The work has both Eastern and Western Turkish characteristics in terms of language. This work, which is thought to have been written in the Khwarezm and Altınordu areas, contains grammatical elements of both Eastern and Western Turkish. Binary forms such as ti-~ di-, ton ~ don, tokuz ~ nine are found together. While the suffixes are written, they are sometimes shown with letters, and sometimes the same suffixes are written with letters. Based on the language features, it is possible to say that the work was written in the 13th or 14th century. 80% of the text, which consists of Arabic verses and Turkish translations and interpretations, is written with vowels. It shows that the author or copyist did not adhere to the Karakhanid orthographic tradition, but followed a path close to the orthography used by the Oghuz people in Anatolia. When writing some words or suffixes ending in suffixes, tenvin was used instead of the letter n: Eser, Osman Toker (2000), Ayşe Uyansoy Hillhouse (2006), Cengiz Uzmanoğlu (2006), Aslı (Uygun) Zengin (2007) and Recep Yılmaz. (2007) as a master's thesis.
