Notes Müstakim-zâde Süleyman Sâdeddin's (b. 1131/1719 - d. 1202/1788) work in the ensab genre. His full name is Mecelletü'n-Nisâb fi'n-Nisebi ve'l-Künâ ve'l-Elkâb. The writing of the work, written in Arabic, was completed on 6 Ramadan 1175 (31 March 1762). It was written with the aim of informing the relatives, lineages, names, nicknames and pseudonyms of well-known figures of the Turkish-Islamic world. It also includes short version translations along with the names of the people in question. According to its author, Imam Sem'ânî (d. 562/1166) wrote a work in the genre of Ansâb, Ali b. el-Esîr (d. 630/1233) shortened it with some corrections and published it under the name pel-Lübâb, Suyûtî (d. 911/1505) made additions to Lübâb and wrote Lübbü'l-Lübâb, and Kâtib Çelebi (d. 1067/1657) wrote this book. He could not write and finish his work titled Es-Süllemü'l-Vusûl ile Tabakâti'l-Fuhûla. The author then arranged Mecelletü'n-Nisâb in Suyûtî's order. Mecelletü'n-Nisâb consists of three main sections called "Fasl". The work was started in a mixed manner, without distinguishing between nicknames and imprints, and starting from the 5th leaf, which forms the basis of the book; 1- Ibn Fulan 2- Imprints 3- Nisbes sections were established. The “Ibn Fulan” chapter is known with a name starting with “Ibn”; The "Imprints" section became famous with a name starting with "Ebû"; The "Nisbes" section includes people who have achieved fame with a nisbe, nickname or pseudonym. "Nisbes", the most voluminous section of Mecelletü'n-Nisâb, is divided into chapters according to the first letter of their names. Each chapter and chapter are listed alphabetically. The work consists of a total of 12572 articles. At the end of Mecelletü'n-Nisâb, there are drawings showing various genealogies and lines. With these drawings, the author tried to create the family trees of the people whose life information he gave in his work. As a matter of fact, some of these genealogies are also engraved on the margin of the page containing the relevant article. The death dates of many people are also recorded in the family trees, which emphasize that the work is in the Ansab genre. The volumes of the state translations in Mecelletü'n-Nisâb vary. While some biographies consist of a few words, some have a one-page narrative. Mecelletü'n-Nisâb was created using more than 350 sources. The majority of these sources consist of works in the genres of ensab, history, tabaat, kitabiyat, tezkire and siyer. Throughout the text, a plain and simple language and style is used, consisting of short sentences, devoid of literary art. The author made a special effort to read proper names correctly, therefore he described the pronunciation of some words and used vowels in some words. The author, who is known for the books he wrote in the field of biography as well as literary, religious-mystical works, presents information such as names of persons, works and places, dates of birth and death, after a serious investigation, in his translations; The fact that it provides important information about his own life and works, as well as historical, religious, literary, mystical and geographical information, makes Mecelletü'n-Nisâb valuable. İbnülemin Mahmut Kemal (d. 1957) saw what Mecelletü'n-Nisâb saw in his publication of Tuhfe-i Hattâtîn. The copy of the author's line in which he stated and published one page is lost. The only copy identified is registered in Suleymaniye Library Halet Efendi Section number 628. This manuscript has a volume of 472 leaves; It gives the impression that it was copied from a draft copy due to reasons such as the fact that it contains grammatical, spelling, classification and codification errors, and the content does not fully match the genealogies at the end. A facsimile of the copy, which was copied eight years after the author's death, was made by the Ministry of Culture (2000). Ahmet Yılmaz prepared a doctoral thesis introducing Mecelletü'n-Nisâb along with the life of Müstakim-zâde Süleyman Sâdeddin (1991). Yılmaz also published the index of the work (2000). İman Muhammed İssa produced an index of the names of people, works and places mentioned in Mecelletü'n-Nisâb in his doctoral thesis (1995). The investigative text of Mecelletü'n-Nisâb is being prepared for publication by Ensar Karagöz and Ülkücan Karagöz within the Directorate of the Manuscript Institution.
