Notes
Fuzûlî's work on the science of kalam. The work, which can be translated as "The place where the (correct) belief about the beginning and end of existence is born", was written in Arabic. The date of writing is unknown. It is a prose work that explains that the secrets of the universe, its beginning and end can only be learned through knowledge and thus God can be reached. Matla'u'l-İ'tikad consists of 4 main parts, each of which is called rukun. The main chapters are also divided into sections and different topics are discussed in each of them. In the first ruk, knowledge and ways to reach knowledge are included, in the second ruk, the universe and its essences, in the third ruk, proving the existence of God, and in the fourth ruk, prophecy and the afterlife. One of the striking features of the work is that Fuzûlî discusses the subjects he deals with, especially in the second and third pillars, with evidence and counter-evidence by including the views of ancient Greek thinkers such as Thales, Plato, Aristotle, Empedocles and Heraclitus. It is a treatise-like work. Fuzûlî used the verses and hadiths he included in his work as a basis for his own ideas, and as mentioned above, he comparatively discussed the Islamic teachings and the ideas of famous philosophers. According to him, all ideas and efforts put forward to understand God, man, the universe and creatures ultimately lead to the word of God (Alawadi 2020: 85-86). Fuzûlî's effort to support philosophers' views on the source of the universe with verses (Türker Küyel 2016: 529) is also a result of this. The facsimile of the work, the only identified copy of which is in the Leningrad Oriental Institute Library, was made by Hamit Araslı and published by Muhammed Tancî. Tancî's publication was published together with the Turkish translation by Esat Coşan and Kemal Işık (2014). For the poet's biography, see. “Fuzûlî”. Turkish Literature Names Dictionary.
