Notes
The work of the poet with the pseudonym Salâhî, whose real name is Abdullah, known as Salâhaddîn-i Uşşâkî, was allegedly written in Arabic for the dervishes of the Uşşâkî sect. In the lodge culture, works that regulate what devotees should do during a day, their behavior inside and outside the lodge, and guide devotees on issues related to the outward aspect of the lodge have been written in every sect. Sheikhs produced works to guide devotees in their education in the lodge (Kılıç, 2016: 12). The work written in this context includes wisdom about the etiquette and procedures that Uşşakî dervishes should follow on a daily basis. Tuhfetü'l-Uşşâkiye, written in Arabic by Salâhaddîn-i Uşşâkî, who was accepted as the Third Pîr (Pîr-i sâlis) in the mentioned sect, was later translated into Turkish by Sheikh Abdurrahmân-ı Sâmî (d. 1934). Abdurrahmân Sâmî Efendi, one of the sheikhs of the Uşşâkî sect, did not translate the work verbatim. He made many additions to the manners and content expressed in the work. For this reason, it can be said that Sheikh Abdurrahmân-ı Sâmî's work has gained copyright status (Kılıç, 2016: 11). Ali İhsan Kılıç states that he wrote it by making use of Usûl ü Evrâd-ı Uşşakiye and making various additions in the translation of Sheikh Abdurrahmân-ı Sâmî's Tuhfetü'l-Uşşâkiyet (Kılıç, 2012: 189). Mahmud Erol Kılıç, who published Sheikh Abdurrahmân-ı Sâmî's translation of Tuhfetü'l-Uşşâkiyet, is also of the opinion that the translator benefited from Usûl ü Evrâd-ı Uşşâkiye (Kılıç, 2016: 13-14). The life of Abdullah Salahaddîn-i Uşşâkî Mehmet Akkuş, who deals with his works and his works, states that he could not find the Arabic copy of Tuhfetü'l-Uşşakiye. It states that the work was translated and published by Abdurrahmân-ı Samî. Therefore, he conveys information about the work based on this translation (Akkuş, 2020: 203). Abdurrahmân Sâmî gives information about the title and content of the work in the preface of the work he translated: After this introduction, the details summarized and summarized here are the ones I named Tuhfetü'l-Uşşâkîn [Gifts for Lovers] for the followers of Tarîkat-ı Aliyye-i Uşşâkiyye. My book, which consists of the principles of Uşşaki methods, etiquette and rituals of the sect, consists of two chapters, a hatime [and a tetimme] (Kılıç, 2016: 38). In the first part of the work, the procedures and etiquette of dervishes in obligatory prayers according to Tarîkat-ı Aliyye-i Uşşâkiyye are explained. Information about the procedures and etiquette of supererogatory prayers according to each sect is included in the second part of the work. The Hatime section is devoted to various issues that are necessary for the followers of the sect. Some symbols are explained in the description (Kılıç, 2016: 38).
