Notes A mixed Persian prose-verse work composed of the seven sermons given by Mevlana in seven sessions, written by the scribe dervishes or by Sultan Veled and Hüsâmeddîn Çelebi. There are two opinions about the dates on which Mevlana gave the sermons in question. The general opinion is that Mevlana gave these sermons before he met Shams. The second opinion is that the information that he left these sermons after Shams is proven by documents. However, it is within our knowledge that Hazrat gave sermons in some friendly assemblies after Shams. It is possible to describe the general preaching method followed in the assemblies of Mecâlis-i Seb'a as follows: In each assembly, the sermon is started with a harmonious language and selected poetic sentences. The opinions put forward during the sermon are supported by Qur'anic evidence by referring to many verses. The purpose of these references is to praise Allah in terms of his power, wisdom, greatness and monotheism. At the end of the sermon, Hz. The Prophet, his four caliphs, his companions and sometimes Hz. A prayer prayer is made for Hasan and Hüseyin. This chapter is followed by the step of starting the sermon with a hadith that forms the basis of the subject. While this basic hadith is explained and annotated, Mevlana lists the relevant verses depending on the connotations brought by the sermon and mentions other hadiths that explain the hadith on which it is based on the same level. This order is followed by stories and narratives appropriate to the subject. Throughout the sermon, Mevlana conveys to his listeners the products of his vast understanding, looking at the issue from many different perspectives, without compromising the literary and aesthetic level. Although Mevlana handles the sermon topics at a literary and aesthetic level, he is very skillful in reducing them to the public level with very appropriate and accurate transitions. He always connects the sermon topics he discusses with examples from the living environment and daily life. Although he repeats his basic ideas in every sermon, he connects these repetitions to a different conclusion in each assembly and offers his listeners a unique narrative feast. Towards the end of the sermon, some exemplary events selected from religious-historical stories are explained in detail and covered with a commentary method that keeps the audience's interest alive. At the end of the sermon, God was praised and Hz. The assembly ends by saying salawat to the Prophet, his descendants and his companions (Gölpınarlı 1965: 2). According to Abdülbaki Gölpınarlı, the contents of the assemblies in Mecâlis-i Seb'a are as follows: 1. Assembly: The defeat of the Ummah, Struggle, Solomon-Taj, Interpretation of Basmala, Miracle of the Prophet, Splitting of the Moon, Representation with Gulyabani, Repentance, Butcher-bird, Hamza-Wild, Barsisa story, Basmala, Nuh-Flood.2. Assembly: Turning towards God, Richness of the heart, Fox-drum, Edhemoğlu Ibrâhîm, Süleyman-Hüdhüd-Belkıys, a story of Hisham, Basmala.3. Parliament: Harise's opinion, Sultan-born, Zahid-arif, Sultan-servant, Time to pray for need, Goodwill.4. Assembly: Those who are a mercy to the society, the story of servitude, perseverance, the repentance of Nasuh, Mukbil-i Tammar and Salebe.5. Assembly: Abdulmuttalib's prayer for rain, Servitude, Habîb-i Acemî, Insatiable ox-ambition, Self, Groups of people.6. Assembly: Advice and the world in the Torah, La-Illa.7. Assembly: Honor of the mind, Everything has a scale, Knowledge, Purpose of creation, Knowledge arising from essence-learned knowledge, Fish-snake representation (Gölpınarlı 1965: 136-137). Mecâlis-i Seb'a was first published based on its copy dated 788/1386 in Üsküdar Hacı Selim Ağa Library. The Persian text of the work, corrected by Ahmed Remzî Akyürek, was published with the translation of the bookseller Rizeli Mehmed Hulûsî, with the introduction and analysis of Feridun Nafiz Uzluk, under the title Seven Advices of Mevlana (1937). Abdülbaki Gölpınarlı, who found Uzluk's text and the translations based on it inadequate, translated the work back into Turkish based on the oldest and most intact copy in the magazine number 79 in the Mevlana Museum Library (1965). The text of the manuscript in question was printed by Tevfîk Sübhânî in Tehran under the name Mecâlis-i Seb'a (Heft Hitâbe) (1365). Apart from these, many publications have been made on the work in the form of translations and selections by different people (for his biography, see “Mevlânâ Celâleddîn-i Rûmî, Muhammed Celâleddîn, Hudâvendigâr”.
