The title appears in the preface along with the author's name; it is also stated on the title page (in red ink): Risālaẗ al-hayʾaẗ min kalām Mawlānā Quṭb al-Dīn Šīrāzī adāma Allāh ẓilāl jalālih, indicating that Šīrāzī is still alive. The original portion of this codex was copied before 711 [1311], which is Šīrāzī’s death date; folios 21-30, 43-107, 123-179 were added later. This witness contains 2 different hands; some 62 diagrams; and corrections and glosses throughout. There are (at least) 2 ownership notes: 1) Ġiyāṯ al-Dunyā wa-al-Dīn Amīr Ibrāhīm, dated the end of Ḏū al-Qaʿdaẗ 726 [1326] (f.0a); and 2) ʿAbd al-Ḥayy ibn ʿAbd al-Razzāq al-Riḍawī (plus his seal); and study notes: 1) Muḥammad ibn(?) Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad al-Ījī, read in the presence of Burhān al-Ḥaqq wa-al-Dīn (l.0a); and 2) Šaykh Ḥa<ssān>(?), dated(?) 126013(?) (f.0a). Our master and teacher, Afzal Al-Wari, the scholar of the world, the master of the virtues of the children of Adam, the example of investigators, the authority of scholars in the worlds, the proof of truth over all creation, the pride of the best of humanity, the king of judges and rulers, the pole of religion, truth, and religion, Mahmoud bin Masoud Al-Shirazi, may God perpetuate the shadows of his majesty, and may God bless the Muslims with his grace and favours. As for what follows, praise be to God, the Creator of the heavens above the earths, an example to discerning observers and their beautifier. With the flowers of the constant and the perplexed, an inspiration for the minutes in which it was created by the hearts of the insightful, and prayers be upon the master of the firsts and the last, Muhammad, and his good and pure family... For a while, I was determined to write for myself and for the rest of the brothers in the knowledge of the form whose world has won happiness... a treatise that is superior to others, containing the essence of the simple compositions, etc. - This is despite the fact that what we have said is not less than what they mentioned and is smaller, but rather it is Yes, and greater, but this is known by one who browses through the expressive books classified in this section that point to each other in the sermon of the book, such as the rhombic message, the butter, the pith, the goal of thoughts, and the pillar for those of understanding, such as the summary, the composition of the spheres, the reminder, the outcome, and the utmost understanding and insight, and he comprehended their meanings and understood the essence of their foundations, then contrasted them with this book so that he can distinguish the peel from the pith, and God is the inspirer of guidance and guidance. From him is the beginning and to him is the return. And when God grants me success, God Almighty, to complete what You intended and to accomplish what You promised, let us conclude the book, praising God Almighty for His great blessings and great blessings, and praying for the brightness of the nights and days, Muhammad, the best of humanity, and upon his honorable, honorable family, the lamps of darkness and the keys of speech.
