The beginning of the manuscript: In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful (...) Abd al-Rahman bin Ali al-Tijani said (...) This is an approximation of Al-Jaromiyyah, an explanation of the beginner we have recorded on the authority of Sheikh Sidi Omar bin Attia (...) Speech is the compound expression that is useful in situation. Speech is divided into two parts in language and in pronunciation. Speech in language is used and is meant by speech of the soul, and that the human being then.
The end of the manuscript: And Bab Saj, meaning a chapter of Saj, has ended what Abu Zaid Abd al-Rahman bin Ali al-Tijani recorded from his sheikh, Sidi Amr bin Atiya, may God Almighty have mercy on them (...) Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds. The carrier of this copy was dated the month of Jumada in the year 183 (sic), and the blank copy of the second carrier was in the Al-Andalus Mosque in Fez on the 5th of the month of Rajab (...) in the year 1330.
