ملاحظات Fragment of the 'Tale of Zayn al-Mawāṣif and Masrūr the Druggist'. The tale is found in The 1001 Nights (ألف ليلة وليلة; see Macnaghten edition, also known as Calcutta II, vol. 4, pp. 190-246), but appears here without the frame-narrative. The narrator of the tale is referred to simply as the story-teller (الراوي; see e.g. f. 80v, line 4), and not Shahrazād (the narrator of the The 1001 Nights ), and the tale is not here broken into 'nights'. The title page (f. 79r) reads: حكاية زين المواصف وما جرا لها مع مسرور العطار والقاضي والشهود وهي تعلبهم ولم ينالوا منها مقصود على إتمام وإضمار (؟) Begins (f. 79v, lines 1-): حكاية مسرور وما جرا له مع زين المواصف ذكروا والله اعلم بغيبه واحكم فيما مضى وتقدم من أحاديث الأمم إن كان في قديم الزمان وسالف الدهور والأعوام والأيام رجل يقال له مسرور وكان عطارًا ويقال إنه على دين النصرانية Ends (f. 88v, lines 9-11): بصاد تلهوا في الغرام بمدهي يعايدوني فيك على زماني [...] عينَ ذا فضة [...] مليحة
