PILE: wool; 11 colours: red, light red, dark yellow, yellow, green, blue, light blue, dark purple, purple, dark brown, cream; symmetrical knot tied around 2 threads; 72 knots per sq. inch )1080 per sq. dm). SIDE FINISH: cut END FINISH: cut DESIGN: Field: blue ground densely filled with composite blossoms, palmettes and with yellow and light blue Afshan lilies. Catalogue date: 26.7.94
Üretim c.f. see reference details for 330-1892. The Anglo-Persian Carpet co. S. Kensington. Purchased for 10s. "Fragment of carpet, probably Armenian, 17th century". One of "Six fragments of carpet (that) have been obtained, it is understood, from Smyrna refugees. They represent types of older carpets which are now becoming rather expensive... a very good opportunity is offered of securing good pieces at a nominal price". AFK to the Director
