PILE: wool; 11 colours: red, light red, dark yellow, yellow, green, blue, light blue, dark purple, purple, dark brown, cream; symmetrical knot tied around 2 threads; 72 knots per sq. inch )1080 per sq. dm). SIDE FINISH: cut END FINISH: cut DESIGN: Field: blue ground densely filled with composite blossoms, palmettes and with yellow and light blue Afshan lilies. Catalogue date: 26.7.94

One of "Six fragments of carpet (that) have been obtained, it is understood, from Smyrna refugees. They represent types of older carpets which are now becoming rather expensive... a very good opportunity is offered of securing good pieces at a nominal price". AFK to the Director
