Notlar This ewer is a striking example of the brilliantly coloured ceramics made by Iranian potters under the Safavid dynasty (ruled 1501-1732). They often achieved dramatic effects with glazes of a single colour, as here, combined with moulded or carved decoration. In the 16th century, ceramic production in Iran was on a modest scale. When the capital moved to Isfahan around 1600, the production of luxury dishes and wall tiles in a wide variety of styles and techniques rapidly increased. No one particular centre was associated with ceramic production. The potters used many techniques, including underglaze painting, coloured glazes and lustre decoration, which was revived after 1650.

Fiziksel açıklama Long-necked ewer with a turquoise glaze, a burn mark below the spout on one side.
