Notes
Its origin is the book “Al-Kamal fi Ma’rifat al-Rijal” by Abd al-Ghani al-Jumaili al-Maqdisi, who died in the year 600 AH. It was written by al-Mazzi in “Tahdheeb al-Kamal fi Ma’rifa al-Kamaal fi Ma’rifa al-Rijal,” and it was edited by Ibn Hajar in “Tahdheeb al-Tahdheeb,” which is printed. The corrections, gildings, approximations, and completions were repeated throughout the book. You can find them all in Barklaman, some of which are printed and some of which are still in manuscript. It is a psychological copy with both ends cut off, corresponding to the original from which it was copied, written by three writers. The copyists completed what was omitted from them, in different lengths, and on different types as well: the first was Levantine Arabic, in which the narrow, primitive parallel lines appear, and the copyist wrote it with dark, black, viscous tanzanite ink that turned to dark brown. The red ink was used to write the chapters, titles, proper names, and symbols of the sources referred to in biographies and teachings on some words, and the second was written by the copyist in dark watery tanzanite ink on a satin white Frankish-made ink, in which the parallel lines and the commercial watermark appear. It dates back to the eleventh century AH, and the third was written by the copyist in dark brown tan ink on a white satin fringe kerchief, and also dates back to the eleventh century AH. It appears from the handwriting in the first section that it was written by one of the Meccan scholars of the Fahd family, including a piece mentioned with a description of Tahdheeb al-Tahdheeb, not Ibn Hajar.
