Notes
The concepts of "hüsün" - "kubuh", whose Turkish equivalents are "beautiful" and "ugly", are used in theological literature to define "good" and "bad" things. Do the objects and actions existing in the world acquire these values due to an inherent quality or a meaning attributed to them by religion? In short, does religion accept something as good because it is good, or is it good because religion calls it good? According to Ebü'l-Muîn en-Nesefî, one of the strong representatives of Matûrîdî thought, the good and evil aspects of some objects and actions that exist in the world are inherent. However, this feature was given to Allah Almighty when He created that entity or meaning for the first time. The criterion for evaluating the same being is placed in the mind, which is the evidence of God's existence. Honesty, helpfulness, and acts of cruelty and denial are given as examples of such beings. According to Nesefî, the goodness and evilness of some beings and their being beautiful or ugly are directly related to religion's ordering or prohibiting those things. These may gain different values depending on the situation.
