Ms. 1026 Origin: As appears in colophon on p.366, copied by Ibrāhīm ibn Maḥmūd with transcription completed "fī yawm al-ʻArafah al-uḍḥīyah..", i.e. 9 Dhū al-Ḥijjah 989 [ca. 4 January 1582]. Accompanying materials: a. Slip with description in hands of Eilts and Jameson "Fiqh | Kitāb al-Ṭahārah | & other texts | on Islamic ritual requirements | Brought to RBR on 10-27-70 by Mr. Eilts. | Purchased by Mr. Sulaiman from Librarie Tunisienne in 1967. Letter & invoice in MSS file. | author | date of mss unknown" and on verso "Hanafite legal texts" Former shelfmark: Mich. Isl. Ms. temp. no. 175 Binding: Pasteboards covered in dark red-brown leather ; Type II binding (with flap, now lost) ; board linings in untinted laid paper ; upper and lower covers carry blind-stamped mandorla (filled with symmetrical vegetal composition, compare Déroche class. NSd 7) and tooled border ; sewn in cream thread, two stations, failing ; worked chevron endbands in cream and pale pink, in poor condition with losses to headband (almost entirely gone) and tailband ; overall in somewhat poor condition with much abrasion, extensive pest damage, delamination and losses of boards, loss of flap, spine almost fully detatched from textblock, etc. ; housed in box for protection. Support: European laid paper with 9-10 laid lines per cm. (vertical), chain lines spaced 28 mm. apart (horizontal), watermark of anchor (single line) in circle with six-pointed star above (see p.18, 36, 46, 121, etc.) and countermark of "H S" (see p.44 and compare no.38 in Velkov, Les Filigranes dans les documents Ottomans), sturdy, cream in color, well-burnished ; extensive pest damage ; added leaves and flyleaves in different European papers. Decoration: Section headings and some abbreviation symbols (mainly two-teeth stroke overlining keywords) rubricated. Script: Naskh ; elegant, spacious hand in a thin line ; virtually serifless with slight effect of tilt to the left, curvilinear descenders, open and closed counters, pointing (two and three dots) mainly in conjoined dots, alif maqṣūrah occasionally pointed as yāʼ, tāʼ maftūḥah rather than tāʼ marbūṭah occasionally employed, extensively vocalized. Layout: Written in 13 lines per page ; frame-ruled. Collation: ii, 5 (5), V-2 (13), 16 V(173), V-2 (181), ii ; exclusively quinions ; catchwords present ; pagination in pencil, Western numerals, supplied during digitization (includes flyleaves and added leaves at opening). Colophon: "Scribal," rectangular, reads "قد وقع الفراغ من تحرير هذا الكتاب في شهر ذي الحجة الحرام في يوم العرفة الاضحية سنة تسع وثمانين وتسع مائت تمت ... وانا الفقير المقر بالذنب والتقصير سليمان بن محمود غفر الله ذنوبهم وستر عيوبهم وجعل مسكنهم بحبوحة جنانه امين بحرمت سيد الاولين والاخرين واله الطيبين واصحابه المطهرين ..."
