| Notes | The current research was conducted using a qualitative method, based on the interpretive theory of Clifford Geertz. The main problem in this research is to describe the elements of passion and emotion in forbidden rituals, with an emphasis on understanding what it is in the form of lived religion. The unit of research is those ritual findings in which most of the elements of passion and emotion are manifested, such as: (black dressing, breast-cutting, chain-cutting, machete-cutting and Ta'ziyeh) which the researcher has represented in the way of religious ethnography. The way to reach such a goal was not simple, but it required the choice of a complex and combined method that forced the researcher to sit down and talk with the elders of the Muharram religion through the method of participatory observation and interview. In the process of analyzing the mentioned findings in an interpretive form, the researcher explained the fact that the forbidden ritual has been the reproducer of religious and cultural identity, and the rituals are the religious belief of the ritualists that has become objectified. The results of the interviews and the result of the researcher's observation showed that passion, feeling, and movement are the spirit of the rituals, and the nature of the Muharram ritual tends to be imitated and seen. The result proved that on the one hand, the Muharram religion is an identity-building and reinforcing component of social construction, which has been able to play a role in the reproduction of spirit, collective communication, intra-group relations, social bonds, collective consciousness, and the reconstruction of religious beliefs, and on the other hand, they have been a link between the past and the present. Truth will make religion smooth. |
