This understanding has not changed throughout the ages, and modern people see being 'physically beautiful and flawless' even more effectively as a source of power and happiness. According to the definition of the World Health Organization, health; It is not only the absence of illness and disease, but also a state of complete physical, spiritual and social (social) well-being. Dictionary definition of health; It is the individual's ability to function physically, emotionally, mentally and socially in harmony with the environment. In the definition, not only the physical but also the spiritual and social dimensions of health are taken into account. Therefore, although medical intervention for aesthetic purposes does not have the purpose of treatment, it is one of the means of realizing the right to health, which is one of the basic human rights of the individual, which includes the spiritual well-being of the individual. Types of medical intervention are divided according to the nature of the intervention. While medical interventions generally emerged as interventions for diagnosis and treatment purposes, developments and changes in medical science have revealed new types of interventions. Historically, medical intervention for aesthetic purposes; It emerged and developed as a sub-branch of plastic and reconstructive surgical interventions. Although these types of medical interventions have been practiced since ancient times, they have made great progress, especially thanks to surgeries performed to correct body deformities and repair tissue and organ losses in those injured in the First and Second World Wars. Studies that started in this way have led to an increase in the number of plastic surgeons and to the spread of plastic surgeries due to the fact that surgeries can be performed much more cheaply due to developments in technology.
