The author reports in sixteen chapters, each of which is divided into three sections, reflections and anecdotes on the subject of virtues and vices. He says he took Moḥammad ibn Ibrâhîm al-Qoṭbî's غرر الخصائص as a model and wrote his work to honor a great character (المقرّ) of the court of the sultans of Egypt, named Qânṣoû.
