Sample Text
This first edition of a treatise on tea was published in Istanbul in 1878. It describes various brewing methods, drinking etiquette, and the health benefits of tea. The book was so influential that, after its publication, tea prices in the Ottoman Empire soon reached levels comparable to those of more expensive coffee (Chris Fitch, Globalography: Our Interconnected World Revealed in 50 Maps, 2018, page 28). As a result, the beverage became popular among all social classes. In 1295 of the Rumi calendar (1878 or 1879), the work was published by two different publishers with different collations: İzzet Efendi Matbaası (69 pp.) and Müzellefzâde Rıza Efendi Matbaası (81 pp.). The text of the book remains very popular today and has been republished in modern Turkish, Osmanischer Traktat vom Tee. - Inhalt: Dîbâce, Mukaddime, Çay, Çayın envâʿı, Birinci bâb, İkinci bâb ...
