Al-Fatihah is the mainstay of prayer and the basic introduction to the Holy Qur’an. With every word of it, the writer concludes a new opening in meanings and ideas, stopping at every verse, indeed every word of it. The basmala is the phrase that Noah said when he moved the rudder of his ship announcing the birth of a new world. With it was the stream and with it was the anchorage. A sentence with which we announce our project in life, our function on earth, and the identity of the one who employed us. So we decide to work in His name always, and then praise comes. The writer shows when praise is a pain-relieving medicine, and when it is an attack on the source of pain.. How praise is an insistence on positivity and a path to change.. and what is the essence of praise.. But when God Almighty introduces us to Himself, this places us before His attributes. He is the Lord of the Worlds, and He is the Most Merciful, the Most Merciful, and He is the Owner of the Day of Judgment. In each of them there are meanings that the writer deduces in a new and different way that will increase our awareness of ourselves and our lives, leading to a deeper connection with our Lord and Creator. As for restricting our worship to Him, “It is You we worship,” this opens up to us the different meanings of servitude so that we can be certain that when we worship no one but Him, that only achieves for us the only possible freedom, which is true freedom. When we limit our seeking His help, “It is Your Father we seek help,” this embodies the reality of our position and the position of things toward us in this life. Then what is behind our request for guidance? Are there conditions for guidance? Does it have any contraindications and what is the circle of guidance? Then what is the story of “those you have blessed” and is their story over or not? What happened to those who were angry? What is the truth about delusion? Luminous pauses show us how Al-Fatihah puts before our eyes a magnifying glass through which we see the world so that we can enter it, break into it, and rebuild it. Then we understand the wisdom behind the Messenger of God - may God bless him and grant him peace - forbidding us from closing our eyes during prayer. --
