The subject of the book revolves around the modernist novelistic creativity achieved in the Arab world and its rise to new formulation mechanisms that go beyond the traditional narrative concept to freedom of narrative action. The author of the book is Dr. “Murshid Ahmed” from Syria said that the novelist and poet “Ibrahim Nasrallah” is one of the most distinguished Arab modernist novelists who have written texts that represent this trend. “Thanks to the awakening of the novelist’s sense that adheres to the primacy of freedom of narrative action in the creative process, he presented a novelistic project rich in aspects of modernity, distinguished by a novelistic structure that revealed a high-level skill in using formulaic mechanisms, containing narrative content carrying fateful issues with historical dimensions.” Geographical, cultural, and civilizational, founded by the Arab human being, and charged with a semantic overflow, which breaks the horizon of the recipient’s expectation, and brings him into the world of the fictional text, to rebuild it anew, so that he can perceive the world cognitively and aesthetically. Ibrahim Nasrallah’s modernist project is not merely a flowing breakthrough behind a specific modernist work, but rather it is the product of creative creativity, methodically founded according to a strategy: temporal, based on the principle of continuity through the succession of time and positioning. In a spatial, Arabic, multi-dimensional, multi-dimensional, and functional scope, it rises on the basis of renewed diversification in formulaic mechanisms capable of conveying the story to the recipient, and generating in him a sense of pleasure in receiving.” From this standpoint, the research focused on the mechanisms of narrative operation from several aspects, the first of which is the novel’s title, the second is the tendency toward exoticism, and the third is about genre hybridity. These three narrative mechanisms were followed by a context in which the objectivity of this modernist narrative work represented by Ibrahim Nasrallah was confirmed. For this reason, in this approach, Dr. Murshid Ahmed intends to benefit from what has been achieved in narratives and the theory of reception - through a primary principle, which is: making the fictional text a standard for critical work, by identifying the formulaic mechanisms used by the narrator in presenting the story in the course of the narrative narrative, with the aim of arriving at an authentic critical approach to the Arabic novel. He considered that this narrative approach, despite its connection to some modern narrative mechanisms (the structure of time), is not final, because there are other formulation mechanisms, which fall within what is modern, and any critic can touch upon the manifestations of their operation. Hence, in the writer’s opinion, it appears legitimate to invite Arab critics to contribute to the dialogue with the modernist project in Ibrahim Nasrallah’s novels, and to reveal the aesthetics in it, which are in the interest of the Arab novel, and contribute to enriching the critical achievement.
