Notes Socialist Feminist Collective (SFK) brought together the papers and discussions of the two-day conference it held in Istanbul on 12-13 November 2011 in the book titled Women in the Clip of Paid and Unpaid Labor. At the conference, Heidi Hartmann presented papers titled "Capitalism and Patriarchy", Jean Gardiner presented papers titled "Care Labor", Helena Hirata presented papers titled "Flexibility and Paid Women's Labor", and Gülnur Acar Savran from SFK spoke about "Feminist Politics Today". In the book, where the texts are published in Turkish and English, in addition to the papers and panel speeches, there are also discussions held by many participants over two days and various testimonies of the participants. The book seeks answers to the following questions: Does capitalism have the potential to erode patriarchy? Can we talk about a partnership or a tension between patriarchy and capitalism? Have policies harmonizing family and work life brought gains to women? If positive developments can be mentioned, what kind of reversals can be seen in these developments in the period we live in? Does flexible work, one of the most current and concrete examples of the cooperation of patriarchy and capitalism, have a gender? Is home-based work a trap for women? Or is it a job like any other job? What are the advantages and disadvantages of part-time working for women? In cases where women choose to work part-time, what is the reason?
