Surat Al-Shura, Hamm Asaq, is Meccan in the words of Al-Hasan, Ikrimah, Ata’, and Jabir, and Qatada and Ibn Abbas said: Except for four verses revealed in Medina from His saying, the Almighty, the Majestic, {Say, I do not ask you for a reward for it}. His saying, the Almighty, the Almighty, {Ham, Asaq} has seven interpretations. One of them is that it is one of the names of God Almighty, by which I swear, and it is the saying of Ibn Abbas. The second is that it is a name of the Qur’an, which is the saying of Qatada. The third is that it opens the surahs, and this is the saying of Mujahid. The fourth is that it is the name of the mountain surrounding the world, which is the saying of Abdullah bin Buraydah. The fifth is that it is disjointed letters from the names of God. The ha and the meem are from the Most Merciful, the ayn is from the All-Knowing, the syen is from the Holy One, and the qaf is from the Compassionate, which is the saying of Muhammad bin Ka’b. The sixth is that they are letters. It is cut from upcoming events, so the ha is from war, the mem is from transforming a king, the eye is from a conquered enemy, the sīn is from eradicating years like those of Joseph, and the qāf is from the power of God Almighty in the kings of the earth, and this is the saying of Ata. Seventh: It was narrated on the authority of Hudhayfah bin Al-Yaman that it was revealed about a man called Abdul-Ilah in a city on a river in the East that God caused an eclipse in. That is his saying “Ham” means resolve from God Almighty, “Ain” means “justice,” from it: “Sin” means rest, “Qaf” means “falling upon them.” Ibn Abbas used to recite it: {Ham Saqq} without an eye, and it is in the Qur’an of Ibn Masoud. Abu Ja`far al-Tabari also narrated it…..{So glorify the praise of your Lord and seek His forgiveness. Indeed, He is Forgiving.} There are two aspects to his command of this glorification and seeking forgiveness: One of them: that by glorifying prayer he meant prayer, as Ibn Abbas said, and by seeking forgiveness is constant remembrance. The second: He meant explicit praise, which is exaltation and seeking forgiveness from sins. Aisha narrated that she said: After the revelation of this verse, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to often say: Glory be to You, O God, and with Your praise, I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You. So I said: O Messenger of God, what are these words that I see you said? He said: You have made a mark for me among my nation, and if I see it, I say it. There are two meanings to his saying: “Indeed, he was repentant.” There are two meanings: one of them is that he is capable of repentance. The second: He ignores the minor ones. There are two aspects to his command to do this after victory and conquest: One of them: so that this is to be a remembrance or thankfulness to God Almighty for His blessings, because renewing blessings necessitates renewing gratitude. Second: He devoted himself to it, so that he would work hard at his work. Ibn Abbas said: A farewell from God, and a farewell from the world, so he only stayed for two years, continuing to glorify God and ask for forgiveness as he was commanded. He had stayed for forty years without a revelation to him, and he saw a vision of prophecy for two years, and the Qur’an was revealed to him in Mecca for ten years and in Medina for ten years, and he died in the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal, in which he migrated. Muqatil said: This surah was revealed after the conquest of Taif, and the conquest of Mecca, and the people are the people of Yemen, and it is the verse about the death of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace. When it was revealed, he recited it to Abu Bakr and Omar, and they rejoiced, and Al-Abbas heard it and cried. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: What makes you cry, uncle? He said: I mourn for you. He said: It is as you say. It was said: This Surah is called the Surah of Farewell. The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, lived for a year
