Notes	...Chapter Nine: On a set of morals, so I say, and God Almighty grants me success: From what God Almighty has bestowed on me my great honor for those who practice beneficial crafts, and my not disdainful of any of them except in a legitimate manner, and what I mean is to disdain their actions and not themselves, because praise and blame are related to the aspect of attributing the action to the servant in terms of the obligation, not in terms of it being a creation of God, Blessed and Most High, and look at his saying, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, regarding garlic: It is a tree whose smell I hate, so only its characteristic is he disliked. Not itself, and my master Ali Al-Khawas used to honor Al-Maadawi, the cook, the pigeon scavenger, the qanawati, the miller, the baker, the butcher, and the like, and he would say: These bear the burdens of the kingdom, and their warp and flesh are benefits for the people. He would give them precedence over the poor worshiper, and he would say: Those who are skilled in craftsmanship, even if they are deficient in one aspect, are perfect in another aspect. I once saw him stand up for Al-Qanawati and say: He is one of the people of virtue, and standing up for the people of virtue is required, and he used to say: If it were not for the scavenger of pigeons and the fire stove under the Pots in it cause many people to miss the morning prayer during the winter days, because not everyone has the ability to heat water at home, and does not dare to wash with cold water, and it is very difficult to relieve his legal inability to obtain hot water in some way, and a person may cite inability as an excuse when he is able to obtain that with a dirham or a loaf of bath water, and it is also difficult to relieve the inability that is permissible for tayammum. I finish. And I heard him say once: In my view, the one who eats from his earnings, even if it is disliked, such as cupping and drinking water, is better than the devotee who eats according to his religion, and people feed him for his goodness. We have discussed that in the middle places, and praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds.... And he has brought, praise be to God, a book that is beneficial to all of creation, both the common people and the disciples, and is numbered in a strange style. I do not know of anyone who came before me to do something like it, from the early and late ones, and all the blessings I mentioned in it. And manna, in relation to what I did not mention, is like a drop from the surrounding sea, just as if I mentioned everything that God Almighty bestowed upon me in terms of the morals of the disciples, it would be like a drop from the sea of morals of the knowers, just as all the morals of the knowers are like a drop from the sea of morals of the prophets and messengers. God Almighty said: (And if you enumerate the blessing of God, you will not count it.) Therefore, I left out many of the blessings that I was not permitted to divulge due to the absence of anyone who previously knew that God Almighty would create them at our hands, and I have presented them. To you, my brother, in the introduction to the book, I did not make clear to you the matters that we should have concealed in this house, except out of mercy for you so that you may follow us in that, and do not give excuses for what you say until I find someone who imitated them before me, so I follow him. Here I have informed you that I have imitated them, so follow me, and you have no excuse left. Likewise, I mentioned to you in the second chapter the many harms I endured and not meeting people except to imitate me, and God is a witness to what I say, and praise be to God who has guided us to this and what We would have been guided had God not guided us, and praise be to God, Lord of the worlds...
