Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and peace be upon all the prophets and messengers. And what follows: The most despicable and neediest servants of God Almighty say that there is no observational instrument with which to perform all the astral deeds and visualize most of the astronomical forms in the clearest ways, such as what is shown in this globe formed with these creatures, and there is no one who has mastered it except a few people. As for the instruments that lead to the visualization of the astral deeds, there are very many of them, and that the most honorable of them are those that are close in use and not specific to a display of displays, such as this globe, which is a general instrument for all displays, and that working with it is better than instruments even though it is It is easier to deal with than others, so I mastered it with the best mastery, arranged it in the most complete order, and included an introduction and several chapters, seeking that reward from God’s generosity, mercy, kindness, and compassion, because it is the best goal. We begin, with God’s help, and write the treatise on the ball. The first chapter is about knowing the drawings of the ball and its names. Chapter Two: On setting the ball. Chapter Three: On knowing the shape of the sky, its structure, and its movement. Chapter Four: On knowing the difference in the movement of the sky over each country. Chapter Five: On knowing the equation of day and night at the equator. Chapter Six: On knowing the reason for the difference between day and night in each of the dwellings. Chapter Seven: On knowing the equation of the night and the day when the sun enters the beginning of the Aries and the beginning of the balance in all the dwellings... Chapter One: On knowing this blessed instrument known as the Throat and the names of each of its parts. Know, may God Almighty help you, that this instrument is composed of the same ball, the seat, the axis, the two rings, and the plate with the support, which are the parts of this instrument, and it is based on them. As for the ball, it is the round shape made of copper, wood, or other things with correct roundness, in which it is possible to impose a point in its interior that is all The lines emerging from it to the convexity of the sphere, i.e. its surface, are equal in length, and the two perfect intersecting circles drawn on them are the circle of the average of the day and the circle of the ecliptic. As for the circle of the average of the ecliptic, it is the circle that divides the sphere into two equal parts, and its location is the distance from the two holes in which the sides are.... Chapter Sixty-Three: On extracting the width of any planet you wish from the planets not drawn on the sphere. If you want to, then you will know its complete height and direction, and learn its inclination from the parts of the midday ring in that direction, and you will know it. Its part is the ecliptic, as you learned in the chapter before this, or turn the ball until its part is on the midday line. If a part of it falls below the midday ring on a part greater than its height that you knew, then that planet has no width and it is on the middle line of the zodiac. If it falls on one side of it, then see in what direction a count falls between the sign that you knew and its part of the parts of the midday line. What comes out for you is the width of that side star. Chapter Sixty-Four: On knowing the distance of any fixed planet you wish, of the fixed planets that are not drawn on the sphere, from the average of the day. If you want that, then you can determine its complete rise in its direction, and count as much of it from the parts of the midday ring in that direction, and learn where your number ends. Then you know that planet as you learned above, and rotate the sphere until part of the parts of the zodiacal sphere is below the midday line, and count what is between the mark that you learned and the line of the average of the day from the parts of the midday ring, and what comes out are parts beyond that planet from the line of the average of the day. Chapter Sixty-Five: On knowing the distance between any planet you wish among the planets not drawn on the sphere and the zenith points in any country you wish. If you want, learn the zenith point and know the complete height of the planet whose inclination you want from the zenith of the vertex and count from the parts of the midday ring like its greatest height and learn where your number of parts of the midday ring ends and count the parts between the two marks. What comes out for you are the parts of the inclination of that planet from the zenith in that country. The work was written with the ball.
