Notes	Praise be to God, Lord of the Worlds, and may God’s blessings be upon our master Muhammad and upon all his family and companions. Whenever those who remember him mention him and those who are heedless neglect to mention him, the poor servant says to his Lord, Glory be to Him, who hopes for his Lord’s pardon and forgiveness. Ali bin Abdul-Sadiq bin Ahmed bin Abdul-Sadiq bin Ahmed Al-Jabali - May God cover his faults and forgive his sins - : This is a nice explanation of the systems called the appointed guide, written by Sheikh Al-Hajj Al-Abar Sidi Abdul Wahid bin Tenth Al-Andalusi and then Al-Fassi, may God have mercy on him. He makes his words clear and makes his meaning easy for the student, because it is something that has been of general benefit to all students, and we do not know of anyone who wrote an explanation of it in a book other than Sheikh Muhammad Mayara Al-Fassi. He made two explanations of it, a large and a small, which I was not able to obtain. I named it “Guiding the Disciples to Understand the Meanings of the Appointed Guide” so that its name matches its title and its word matches its meaning, and I have no ability to complete all that is contained in the book. And what it contains of the core of the minds is due to my lack of knowledge and the deficiency of my understanding, and also because the words of the master scholars contain protected secrets and hidden gems of wisdom that only they can reveal, and their truths cannot be revealed except by receiving from them, and I am not, my brother, claiming to explain the words of the author... We ask forgiveness from God Almighty for what he knows of us of transgression and boldness in what we have been exposed to in explaining the words of the saints and established scholars, and confirming their expressions and indications without our knowledge of them. Its essence, and there is no insight into it, and mentioning their conditions and positions, and urging us to follow their straight path, despite our bankruptcy from all of that, and we ask Him to benefit from it as it benefited in its private and general origin for the sake of our Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and to make it a mercy for His servants, and a comprehensive blessing in his land and country, pure for his honorable face. He is the Most Generous, Most Generous, and to seal us, our parents, our sheikhs, and all our loved ones with the rings of happiness that He He sealed it for his close friends, Amen, for the sake of the Master of Messengers, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and all his family and companions.
