This copy does not contain the introduction, which is read in the following issue, but, on the other hand, it bears the title of كتاب نهاية فى شرح الهداية, with the attribution to a certain Maulana Hosam ed-Din Safnaki سفناقى; but this is a complete and absolute error, because the Nihaye is a commentary, by Hosam ed-Din Hoseïn ibn ʿAli el-Saghnaki الصغناقى el-Hanefi, of the Hidaye, which is a famous treatise on Hanafi law, written in Arabic, by Borhan ed-Din el-Marghinani. The anonymous author of this lexicon relates in his preface (man. 283, folio 1 verso) that, having noticed that the majority of the lexicons were explained in Arabic and Persian, so that they were of no use to those who wanted to consult them, he compiled the present work, which contains the essential words of the theological books, with a translation into Turkish, taken from the Sihah, the Masadir, the Tahzib from el-Azhari, from Destour, from Kanoun, from Kamous, from Moughrib, from Sami fil-asami المسلم (sic).. From Ryer; Coislin.. Western binding, in white parchment.
