Notes
Other file(s) linked to this institution: FRBAMCCFR-000060-01b.xml. Vocalized Turkish Neskhi, from around 1500, by the hand of a man named Sidi ibn Omar Shah el-Ǧoundi. This work, as indicated in its preface by its author, Mouʿmin ibn Moukbil Sinoubi originally from the town of Sinope, is also known under the title of خزاين السرور; it is dedicated to a prince, named Sultan Isfandiar, who according to Haği Khalifa is the son of Bayezid Keuturum; the style of Miftah el-nour is indeed archaic. It is divided into seven books, dealing successively with the shape of the skull; head diseases; eye diseases; those of the eyelids; conjunctival disorders; those of the cornea; those of the lens; its text is followed (folio 208 verso) by a piece of poetry in Mesnevis, in Arabic, on the external signs of death, attributed to Hippocrates, which, according to its title, “was found in the book of Hippocrates the philosopher, when King Iklis had his tomb searched and took this writing from his tomb; we put it in verse, so that it would be easier to remember its text by heart”; from another piece of twenty verses, in Arabic, also attributed to Hippocrates (folio 211 verso), on how to keep oneself in good health.. Gaulmin.. Turkish binding, in stamped and gilded red leather.
