This history of Mecca is divided into eight chapters, the details of which are given in the preface; it is based on the work of Kotb ad-Din Mohammed, which is written in Arabic. Its author is essentially different from Mohammed ibn ʿAli Nitaʿi, also nicknamed ʿAshik, who wrote a tezkere and a translation of Kashifi's Rauzet el-shouheda. (See numbers 107 of the Old Fund and 1077). Luxury manuscript, decorated with paintings representing the holy places.. Schefer.. Turkish binding, in brown leather.
Sample Text The author says, in his preface, that he had, at an earlier date, translated into Turkish, probably from the Khilaset el-vefa bi-akhbar dar el-Moustafa, a history of Medina, and that he undertook the present work at the request of his friends, at the end of the year 1011 AH (May 1603). This history of Mecca is divided into eight chapters, the details of which are given in the preface; it is based on the work of Kotb ad-Din Mohammed, which is written in Arabic. Its author is essentially different from Mohammed ibn ʿAli Nitaʿi, also nicknamed ʿAshik, who wrote a tezkere and a translation of Kashifi's Rauzet el-shouheda.
