This book is dedicated to the crown prince Selim (folio 2 verso), and the author recounts, during this dedication (folio 3 recto), that he came from Baghdad to Constantinople, in the company of Sherifi, in 960 (1553) and, on his return to his native city, he began in 971 (1563) this work, whose title, Goulshen el-shoʿara, indicates this date (folio 6 verso); Ahdi ibn Shemsi continued it well after this time, since we find the mention of the year 1001, after the death of Selim II (982 AH = 1574); this tezkere is divided into four chapters, dealing respectively with Sultan Soleiman, the princes and the dignitaries who cultivated poetry; mullahs and jurists; provincial governors and administrative officials; poets who had no official occupation. This manuscript is incomplete with eleven leaves, which contained the text of part of the preface. Turkish binding, in stamped brown leather.
