This translation includes the text of the work up to and including the chapter of the festivals instituted by the Fatimite caliphs; it was undertaken on the order of ʿAli Pasha (folio 2 recto), in the year 967 AH (1559-1560), and it is dedicated to Sultan Soleiman I, son of Sultan Selim (folio 2 recto). Its author omitted passages he did not understand; his name, which was to be written in gold ink, remained blank. This translation, as far as we can judge from the terms of its preface, is different from that which is preserved in the British Museum, which was completed by Yousouf ibn Shokr Allah ibn Mohammed el-Ansari, on 20 Shavval 969 (23 June 1562). According to Haği Khalifa, a translation of the Khitat was carried out by a certain Ibrahim Defteri (d. 969 AH = 1561). Luxury manuscript, probably one of the originals, decorated with a sarloh in the Persian style. Turkish binding, in stamped brown morocco.
